Department of Biochemistry
The biochemistry department has three specialties:
- RNA biology in neurosciences
- Micro RNAs
- translational control in cancer
Neuroscience
FLOGEN carries out cutting edge research at how translational control via 4E-BP proteins and eIF4E affect synaptic plasticity, memory and learning capability in the central and peripheral nervous system. The goal is to produce medications which treat memory loss as well as Parkinson's disease.
Flogen Technologies' novel approach is to examine CDK 5 in neurons and how potential therapeutics targeting CDK 5 can help stem the progress of neurodegenerative diseases.
The company also looks at the ATF4 transcriptional factor and its impact on memory via the integrated stress response (ISR).
Micro-RNA
Flogen conducts in-depth studies of Micro-RNA's silencing mechanisms against mRNAs.
Translational control in cancer:
Our company advances research on CDK 4/6 inhibitors in cancer. Our company also looks at potential new therapeutics that target eIF4E phosphorylation in cancer as well as the integrated stress response in cancer.
