    Abstract:

There are many reasons why sulfur represents one of the most important part in the copper pyrometallurgical processes. The most of the copper sulfide concentrates contain approximately 1 to 1.5 ton of sulfur (2-3 t SO2) per ton of the produced copper. Sulfur has chemical, technological, energy and ecological importance in the copper smelting processes. In the last decades, energetical and ecological aspects of sulfur are the most considerable and the best solutions are incorporated in the autogenous copper smelting processes.
